HHREC all-volunteer Community Advisory Boards meet once a month, usually over dinner, working with program staff to bring a community-based voice to the daily program work. The collective heart, joy and dedication of these groups continue to inspire.
The Health Through Art Community Advisory Board (CAB) meets the 4th Thursday of each month, (kids welcome!)to share a meal and guide the project's manager in making both procedural and aesthetic decisions about project activities such as the design of upcoming media campaigns using winning artwork, creating social media presence, focus of upcoming calls for art, and imagining the future of Health Through Art. The 10 x 10 wellness Community Advisory Board (CAB) is responsible for planning the annual “We move for Health” event during NAMI’s national mental health awareness month of May. Planning includes event logistics, appointment of exhibitioners and scheduling event day activities.
The Black Women’s Media and Wellness Project (BWMWP) provides volunteer leadership opportunities for women who participate in the Community Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB is responsible for planning the quarterly Be Still… retreats under the supervision of the program manager. Planning includes choosing themes, speakers and curating program schedules. This position allows for women to gain enrichment from providing events that directly benefit the community.
ARTISTS: Health Through Art is looking for artivists and lovers of art interested in helping to place social message art in various media venues through out Alameda County and the Bay area. Meetings are held once a month in a family friendly art loving atmosphere.
INTERNSHIPS: HHREC is a great place for students to experience internships that will involve them in community-based projects and learning how a non-profit operates. Programs are always accepting applications for internships.
