Billboard Campaigns
All of these billboards have been posted on bus benches & BART interiors throughout Oakland, and the greater Alameda County throughout the last few years. These powerful images show BWMP Community Advisory Board members, community members, professionals, mothers, daughters, artists, healers, musicians and students. They show women who care deeply about the state of the community, especially the young people, to let them know that they stand strong to support them.
The most recent billboard - “Be Still, Don’t Hate, Meditate” - draws upon the success of the Be Still Self-Care Retreats held 3-4 times per year by the Black Women’s Media Project. The billboards echo the essential theme to quiet ourselves and focus on inner peace as a way of creating sustainable peace around us.
